A donor-advised fund is a charitable giving account: donors put money in, then recommend grants to the causes they care about over time. This summit brings together the people who run those programs, from community foundations to the giving arms of major financial firms.

Their goal for the week was simple to say and hard to do: get more of that money to good work. Ours was to show what it felt like to be in the room while they worked on it, from the main stage to the exhibit hall to the conversations in between.

Speakers, in Their Best Moments

Stage work means waiting for the expression that tells the story, not just the frame that proves someone spoke.

The Hallway Is Half the Conference

For a lot of attendees, the reason to fly in is the people. Those candid moments are what sell next year's event. So does showing sponsors they were seen: every exhibitor and sponsor display gets covered, so partners have photos to show for their investment.

Keep Austin Giving, at Scoot Inn

Day two moved across town to Scoot Inn, a historic East Austin music venue, for live country music and line dancing. A second venue, a different light, and a very different energy, with no gap in coverage.
